September 2011
Everyone has settled down to a year of good work. The ice cream counter is opened for lunch, the 4K students act as though they have been here for years, the 5K’s are acting like big boys and girls who know their way around here and the 1st through 5th graders are busy with all the things big boys and girls do at school – “reading, writing and arithmetic,” making new friends, and getting accustomed to new teachers. The fifth graders are getting ready for their trip to Dauphin Island so we shall hope for good weather for them. As you are reading this, they will be visiting Altamont School as the 5th graders have done for years. We have sent Altamont some great students during the past years and they have come to expect that from us.
We are all grateful that we and the school escaped any harm from the bad weather we experienced for a while, and are looking forward to some pretty fall days! We are blessed to be here!
